Project Overview

The offices of HJA is a mixed development comprising a four-storey office/meeting room block at the front with a three-storey open plan office building to the rear, which has been previously converted from industrial use. The building was occupied by the Client in 2006 following a considerable refurbishment, although many items remain from the original building fit-out. The project involved the replacement of over 400 dichroic downlights with new LED downlights as well as additional/replacement emergency LED lights to comply with statutory requirements.

The Challenge

There were over 600 new LED lights to replace in this fully occupied office so all works had to be carried out over weekends, making sure that everything was left clean and tidy. This was a difficult task as we were working above desks and all local wiring needed to be replaced which involved running cables through ceilings, chasing walls and making good.

Project Outcome

CBS successfully completed the project over 21 weekends which involved the installation of new Energy Efficient LED Lights, repairing and making good all walls and ceiling, electrical testing and re-wiring, complying with current regulations and providing NICEIC Certification.

Additional Works

During the project we were invited to quote for the replacement of Fluorescent tubes in 193 light fittings which would entail replacing all the ballast. The light fittings were old and breaking down so we presented them with a more efficient cost option for new replacement LED Panel lights which would save them over £5,000 per year on their electricity costs. We secured an additional order for phase 2 works which we supplied, installed and tested over 4 weekends.
